I saw this on Hungry Happenings and not only was it easy – it was cool, so I just HAD to make them! Go over and look at all the fabulous creations at Hungry Happenings because I will just spend time admiring all her very creative work. This is all you will need:
Use the lighter to heat up the knife blade. Cut the Mike and Ike’s just off center, using the smaller end. Stick it to the fat end of the almond M & M. Ta-da! You are done. Make a whole bunch and put them in a small candy bowl for a party.
Candy Christmas Lights
Here are my tips:
1. Pick out Mike and Ike candies that have a bit of a rounded square on one end.
2. If you have fingernail, you can only use one end of the Mike and Ike’s because you need to grip them very tight.
3. It takes a little time to heat up the knife blade with the lighter so don’t skimp because it won’t work. You need the heat to make the gooey part stick to the Almond M & M’s.
4. Work quickly.
5. Do not worry; the end won’t fall off because it is stuck pretty well.
6. If your children want to help, let them be the stick-er on-er instead of the cutter.
I just love how easy they are and how cute they look, don’t you?
If you are considering adding new lighting, then the load planning task is quite important. You must learn how to calculate the led lights amp load to measure if your electrical services are efficient.

Wow, they are soooooo cute! It’s the best Xmas idea I’ve seen so far 🙂 so simple and ingenious!

Thank you so much! They were even more easy than Strawberry Santas!

Thank you Alicia, it’s generally got to be really simple! 🙂
Anita Schecter
They really do look like Christmas lights. 🙂
kalamitykelli
Thanks! I brought them to work and they have already been eaten up – and it’s just now 9AM……so I guess the combo tastes pretty good together – at least that’s what everyone is saying. I don’t care for either candy so I haven’t tried them.

Seriously darling, one of the best and easiest ideas I’ve seen! Thanks for sharing!
kalamitykelli
Thank you! I take that as a very big compliment!

Ummm… that looks so easy, and they’re so cute! How did you stick them to the string/wire?
kalamitykelli
That’s magic and I can’t tell the secret! 🙂 Actually, that is freezer paper and a sharpie made the string/wire thing and then I just laid the candy around it. But, when I took them to my co-worker to give to her kids, she suggested licorice (red or black) to make necklaces, but I’m not sure what would make them stick. If I could figure that out – those would make adorable necklaces for girls!
pamasaurus
I was thinking it was some sort of thin wire pushed through the Mike and Ikes.
The sharpie/freezer paper idea is pretty clever!

Your so sweet!

These are so stinkin’ adorable! They demand attention from anyone who sees them. So glad you shared at Weekend Potluck!

I’m so happy to have inspired you. Your light bulbs turned out great. I like the use of the grape Mike and Ikes. I’d prefer that flavor over the lime that I used.
kalamitykelli
I’m so glad you approve! I think every elementary school in South Central Oklahoma is making them for Christmas parties – due to my co-workers falling in love with them. And kids really love to eat them. one of the mom’s is going to try to put them on licorice whips somehow and make necklaces out of them – very popular in Oklahoma now!

Kelli, these are so cool! I can’t wait to make some and put them in a bowl for Christmas! I’m featuring you this week at Thursday’s Treasures!
kalamitykelli
You are such a sweetheart! Thank you so much for always being such a big help and cheerleader for me. I can’t tell you how many of your recipes I’m making this weekend (or next) for my Christmas presents – seriously, several. When I’m done I’m going to take a picture and link it all back to your posts because at that point I’ll be too dang tired to write down directions! 🙂
