Repurposing and Basketball

As I write this my alma mater is in the last 2 minutes of the game to get into the final four. When you live in a college town that is not your undergraduate alma mater AND you live with people who ONLY went to the local university it can be tough to take all the “good” – natured ribbing that you get. My boys are rockin’ right now!! Woo Hoo!!! Sorry, back to the blog…..

I’m so excited that they will most likely be in the Final Four I can hardly stand it. I also need to write a post and since it is Sunday I’m writing about something my husband and I have become known for and that is “re-doing” things we buy at flea market and yard sales.

My husband, feeling sorry for me at some point and out of ideas as far as Christmas presents go, bought a beat-up 80’s beer tray at a yard sale for a quarter and this is how it looked:

With 49 seconds to go and not enough time for UNC to catch up, I am happy to show you the end result which sits very proudly in our den now next to the overabundance (in my opinion) of OU paraphernalia! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!
And just incase you missed the tray, he made me the matching milk can!

Love it! Is the decal a magnet or a sticker? Where do I find one that big?

Hi Rhonda! The decal is a sticker and you can get them at (www) fanfanatics (dot) com. search for decals then KU or whatever school you want and keep looking till you find the really large ones! Good luck!

Hi Shanna — actually we used none. The tray is still in my bedroom on a shelf and the can is in the back hallway holding umbrellas — neither have shriveled or torn or peeled yet. It’s been several years since we did those projects and it’s humid here in Oklahoma but we have kept them inside of course and they still look great!
