Crock Pot Hot Rolls from Kelli’s Kitchen

Nearly every Sunday night, we have “dinner”. I usually cook something that takes more time and effort than either of us prepare during the week. On those nights, we have Rhodes Rolls. At least on those nights that I remember to put them out to rise in the early afternoon. Sometimes we get busy and I forget which is a shame because a fresh almost-homemade roll makes dinner so much more special. Now I have found a way to make those rolls even if I forget! The process is so amazing I find it magical! Make those rolls in your Crock Pot, yes, I said Crock Pot! This is all you do:
Get out your Crock Pot

And some Rhodes Rolls

Put in parchment paper and spray with some non-stick spray

Place in several Rhodes frozen rolls

Set to low for 1 hour and 15 minutes – This will be the rising time and should look about like this when that time is up

Turn to high for 1 hour and 15 minutes – they will look like this: done but not browned on top

Turn your broiler on and after placing on a baking sheet, brush the rolls with butter and allow to brown for about 1 minute

Done!

So, if you remember that you forgot to set the rolls out and you still have 2 and ½ hours until you serve, you can still do it! How easy was that?

We had a special Mardi Gras Parfait to celebrate upcoming parades and parties. These will be fun for kids – just make instant lemon or banana (I used banana) and mix green food coloring in ½ and put purple food coloring in part of the Cool Whip then layer – Fun!

Love this. I do this with a great dough recipe I have, but this is much easier. Thanks for the great tip 🙂

Really? So do you make the dough and throw it in the crock pot? Not that I’m going to make dough anytime soon but I really am curious to know how you do that – if you don’t mind sharing….

You don’t make dough, you use Rhodes rolls.

I’m going to have to experiment to see if I can use my own yeast dough this way.

    Love the Mardi Gras parfaits.

I’m a very picture-oriented person!! I have to see pictures of things all the time that others find ridiculous – especially in the blogging/cooking world. That’s why I always take as many pix as I can. Glad you enjoyed it!

I really want a crock pot. There are so many things I could make in there – like these delicious rolls!

The one I used for these rolls was from Target and it is only a 3 quart instead of our regular sized one which is much bigger and heavier – worked great! Often I will use that small pot nowadays since there is just two of us and there are still generally leftovers to freeze – except for these rolls. Mr. Picky Eater ate like a pig!

Rolls in the crock pot?!? Get outta town!! I am so trying this for the holidays. I always end up cooking the rolls ahead of time, of making everyone wait to eat, until the rolls are done, LOL. Thank you so much for linking this to Simple Supper Tuesday. Hope to see you again next week!

That really is a great idea! I imagine letting the dough rise in the crock pot also makes it extra moist and delicious too 🙂
