When I got home from work today, my husband had decorated the house for me – what you don’t see is that behind that camera it looks like The Grapes of Wrath! Bless his heart, he got very messy while decorating. The only thing is that he could not find out stockings! So, we are using the boys’ childhood stockings – see Donatello and Michelangelo plush stocking below. The vintage LPs are part of the way we decorate – I have Halloween themed LPs, Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, 50’s crooners, 50’s and 60’s female covers, Rock and Roll, and Beatles – which we rotate every few months because there’s nothing Mr. Picky Eater loves more than rearranging a room on each and every holiday because nothing says celebration like moving furniture. I found some beautiful blankest at https://www.laurelandwolf.com/ for every holiday celebration. We also have a green tree and a cream colored one. No live trees: too many of us are allergic. This particular tree was my grandparents’ tree that Mother Kalamity bought for them when she was a senior in high school. I hope you enjoy the pictures!
From my family to yours: Merry Christmas – this is Lawyer Boy, Mr. Picky Eater, Son-in-Law, and Top Girl (very pregnant) dressed in their best Cousin Eddie and his wife costumes – that I had made for them!! I wore my Shona Joy Dress that makes me feel so good and confident.
And even Max and Jack got into the dress up action! Merry Christmas from them too!

I love your decorations!! And, your family (even the dogs!) is beautiful!

Thank you! Wonder Boy was the only one missing – I’m sure he was off daydreaming somewhere! ๐ He’s a beautiful artist though….one day I’ll take some pictures of his art and post some of them. In fact, he painted a bunch of things for his grandmother’s yard for Halloween and it made it in many of the papers in our state.

Awe! So sweet. Happy holidays to you and your lovely family!

You too Anita – you are coming to the end of your holiday so it’s almost over for you – BTW, Mr. Picky Eater saw the picture of your muffin tin potato cakes and requested we have them this weekend. I’ll let ya know how they turn out.

I love the idea of the vintage LPs and the Christmas Vacation punch bowl set. Just one question, where’s a shot of you?

In picture of the family, someone HAD to take it so it was me and while we could have changed places, I was not dressed like anyone in Christmas Vacation. I had to have that green jumper custom made for Top girl because she was expecting at the time. Maybe on Christmas this year I’ll get a picture of myself and Rocket and post it! ๐

OMG I love the TMNJ stockings!

Glad you liked them! The boys will be happy to see theirs – I looked them up on the internet because we couldn’t remember their names – who wore what color eye mask – and those darn things were selling on eBay for $40-$70! Hubs said he paid $5.99 each for them about 1989!

Yeah, I had a Michaelangelo with suction cup feet in the back window of my 1980 Sunbird – lol! I absolutely loved it and Michaelangelo was always my favorite. That’s crazy that these guys are considered vintage now and worth so much.

I think it’s the Grapes of Wrath behind most cameras!
Love the albums, my husband has a huge collection that I used to wish he’d get rid of so we didn’t have to haul them around every time we moved AND we didn’t even have a record player. Thankfully he ignored me… we now HAVE a record player and his street cred goes up every time the teens have their friends over. They oooh and ahh over the collection (some say, “what ARE these?”), browse the albums, they listen, he regales them with stories… it’s all very cool.

Yep, it’s hip to be “old-school” these days in the music department! Now you know you can frame them and hang them on your wall! ๐

That is very cool how you all used the LP’s to decorate. That was the first thing I noticed. My kids don’t even know what a LP is and they are in their 20’s. All I have to say about the dogs is Oh My! ๐

We love our dogs a little too much I think!

That’s hilarious!!!! Cousin Eddy costumes for Christmas! You crack me up! I love how you decorate with the vintage albums, too. Hanging on your wall, is the soundtrack to my childhood Christmas. Thanks for sharing some of your traditions, it’s so fun to get a glimpse into your celebrations.
